Earth Pellets
| REVIEW I was curious about this product so I gave it a try. At this point, I think I have been using it for enough (2 years) to review it. First, let’s talk about its filtration capacity. They claim Earth pellets has a surface area in contact with water of 980 meter squared per gram while most media on the market has something between 100 and 500 meter squared per gram. Now let’s talk about that CO2 supply thing. It’s a fact that bacteria produce Co2 like any living organism. However, CO2 generated from bacteria in our filters won’t help much for plant growth. I tried the Earth Pellets with and without Right Now Bacteria. When used without Right Now Bacteria, Earth Pellets makes a great filtration media but won’t produce much CO2. However, it works just great when used with the Right Now Bacteria. It’s not as good as my good old pressurized CO2 system but it’s a great alternative to yeast-based systems. I estimate my CO2 at about 20ppm and it’s not going up and down like it does with yeast-based system. To conclude with this review, I would say that if you are using a yeast-based CO2 system, you would definitely benefit from this system. Your life will be much easier: no refill, no mess, stable pH, stable CO2. If you’re using a pressurized system, you already have what’s best so stick to it. |
